Gabriel Jesus Set for Long Spell Out in Blow for Arsenal

Arsenal are bracing for a bad update concerning striker, Gabriel Jesus, as it is suspected the Brazilian will have to endure a long spell on the sidelines following his injury in the FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United.

Jesus received treatment on his knee in the first half of the match on Sunday, but failed to complete the half after aggravating the injury when challenging for the ball with Bruno Fernandes just before the half-time break.

The Gunners went on to lose the match 5-3 on penalties after both teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of extra time. And now, it goes from bad to worse as Jesus is suspected to have suffered an ACL rupture.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Jesus is now set for further specialist reviews of his injury to ascertain the full extent of damage suffered by the striker before a confirmed timeline for his return may be given.

Jesus’ injury status comes as Bukayo Saka recovers from surgery on his injured hamstring while Ben White is also some way off a return after he also went under the knife to fix a long-term injury.

In the absence of Saka and Jesus, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, could be forced to enter the January transfer market for solutions or risk falling off in their three-pronged ambitions.

As the business end of the season starts, Arsenal have a 2-0 deficit to overcome in the Carabao Cup semi-final, occupy second spot in the Premier League, and are in a good position to qualify for the Champions League knock-out phase.
