Ex-Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has lashed out at club manager Ruben Amorim over his treatment of Marcus Rashford, after the England man sealed a January move to Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old departed Old Trafford to join Villa on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, with a buy option worth £40m pounds after being frozen out by gaffer Ruben Amorim.
Amorim’s treatment of Rashford did not go down well with Silvestre, who hit out at the Portuguese manager. He told beIN Sports: “I think it’s too much. I think it’s disrespectful.”
“You can say over the time he’s been in charge, his communication has been difficult for him. Losing games, having player selection difficult, injuries.”
He added: “But talking about Marcus in such a way, nine years old he joined Manchester United, I think this type of conversation, you can have it privately. In public, I don’t think that does anyone any favours, the team, the owners or Marcus.”
Prior to joining Villa, Rashford had scored seven goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United.
