Former Brazil and Inter Milan defender Lucio has been kept under observation in intensive care after suffering burns in a domestic accident.
Lucio was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Brasilia hospital on May 15 with burns on various parts of his body, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Following treatment, the hospital issued a statement reassuring his fans that the Brazilian is stable, conscious and under constant observation.
The 47-year-old began his professional career in his homeland before moving to Europe in 2001 when he joined Bayer Leverkusen.
He went on to play for Bayern Munich for five years before heading to Inter in 2009, where he won the treble under Jose Mourinho, including his only UEFA Champions League title. Lucio retired from professional football in 2020.
The centre-back represented Brazil in 105 international matches, making his debut in 2000. He won the FIFA World Cup with the Selecao in 2002, and also bagged the 2005 and 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup titles.
Lucio has been kept under observation and will continue to receive treatment at the Brasilia hospital.
