Former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, will make a return to the ring this summer when he squares up against Tyrrell Herndon on June 27 in Wichita, Kansas.
The 39-year-old American had been on the receiving end of crushing defeats of recent, first losing to Joseph Parker on points before being stopped by Zhilei Zhang last June.
Those losses have derailed Wilder’s ambitions to reclaim a world title, and upended plans for a long-awaited bout against British heavyweight, Anthony Joshua.
Wilder, who has won just one of his last five bouts, will be looking to resurrect his career when he takes on the relatively unknown Tyrrell Herndon.
The fight will be promoted by Global Combat Collective and contested over 10 rounds.
Wilder held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020 and has won 43 fights including 42 knockouts, four defeats and one draw in his professional career.
His opponent – 37-year-old American Herndon, has a record of 24 wins and five defeats.
