Manchester City soared right into the UEFA Champions League positions thanks to a comprehensive 6-0 win away to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday.
The reigning league champions started the game off in the right mood and hardly put a foot wrong against the Tractor Boys, with the first goal coming in the 27th minute as Jeremy Doku combined with Kevin De Bruyne, who worked the ball on for Phil Foden to take a touch before drilling it home.
Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, then doubled the Cityzens’ advantage three minutes later following a good combination from Doku and Foden in the build-up, while Pep Guardiola’s men made it three in the 42nd minute as Foden got his brace.
The impressive Doku scored four minutes into the second half before setting up Erling Haaland who made it 5-0. Substitute, James McAtee, completed the rout in the 69th minute with a looping header, much to the delight of Guardiola, who turned 58 on Saturday.
As a result, the comprehensive win moves City to fourth with 38 points, ahead of Newcastle United and six behind Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, while Ipswich Town remain in 18th position with 16 points.
