Premier League leaders Liverpool cruised into the next round of the English FA Cup following a comfortable 4-0 victory over League Two opposition Accrington Stanley at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The huge gulf in quality between both teams was evident as the Reds barely broke sweat, despite the best efforts of their spirited visitors.

Rio Ngumoha made history as the teenager became the youngest Liverpool player to start a competitive match or make an FA Cup appearance for the club.

Darwin Nunez had a string of early misses but the Reds soon opened the scoring through Diogo Jota, who tapped home a cross from the Uruguayan striker.

The hosts doubled their advantage just before the break, as Trent Alexander-Arnold found the top corner with a perfectly placed shot from outside the box.

In the second period, substitute Jayden Danns found the back of the net just four minutes after coming on to all but end the tie as a contest.

Summer signing, Federico Chiesa, then got his first goal for the club in the 90th minute when he fired into the bottom corner after an earlier shot had hit the post.

The visitors’ best chance at goal came in the 57th minute, when Josh Woods’ shot rattled the crossbar. Woods was fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing at Anfield, though.

Next up for Liverpool is a tricky clash against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League next Tuesday.
