A lot of young boys dream of playing football professionally and some do eventually get to live out their dreams and make a career out of the round leather game. It’s not easy to get to play top-flight football. A player must possess insane talent that puts him above his peers to be able to make a career out of football. But sometimes, lightning strikes twice in the same household, and siblings are blessed with enough football talent to play football professionally. They don’t usually attain the same level of success but to be able to play football professionally is in itself a miracle. We’ve made a list of some of the most famous brothers in football.

1. Iñaki and Nico Williams

The Williams brothers are the ones trending right now after helping Athletic Club to their first major trophy win in 40 years last week as they won the Copa del Rey. Born to immigrant parents who migrated from Ghana to Spain, both brothers were born in the Basque Country in Spain making them eligible to play for Athletic Bilbao despite their very restrictive player recruitment policy. Iñaki made his debut for the club in 2015 while Nico, his younger brother made his debut for the club in 2020. Surprisingly the brothers represent different countries. Iñaki represents Ghana while Nico plays for Spain.

2. Theo and Lucas Hernandez

Theo Hernandez

Sons of retired footballer Jean-Francois Hernandez, Theo and Lucas Hernandez currently play for the French national team Theo plays as a left-back for Italian giants AC Milan while his older brother Lucas plays as a Centre-back or full-back for PSG. Lucas and Theo have both played for top football clubs.

Lucas Hernandez

Lucas has played for Atletico Madrid where he won the Europa League and Bayern Munich as part of the treble-winning squad in 2020. Theo has played for Atletico Madrid, Alaves, and Real Madrid before joining AC Milan in 2019. The brothers were part of the France squad that won the Europa Nations League in Italy in 2021. The football genes are obviously quite strong in the Hernandez family.

3. Quinten and Jurrien Timber

These brothers take it up a notch. They’re twins and they both play professional football. Jurrien plays for Arsenal although we have not seen much of him this season due to injury. He started his professional career playing for Ajax and signed for Arsenal in 2023. His twin brother Quinten currently plays for the Eredivise team Feyenoord. He is also on the Netherlands national team. Twins in the national team must be once in a once-in-a-generation occurrence. The football talent in the Timber family doesn’t stop at the twins. One of their elder brothers Dylan Timber is also a professional footballer. He currently plays as a center-back for VVV-Venlo and represents the Curaçao national team.

4. The Pogba Brothers

Paul, Mathias and Florentin Pogba

Paul Pogba is the most famous and probably the most talented of the brothers having played for top teams like Juventus and Manchester United. Paul was part of the French national team that won the World Cup in 2018. His brothers Mathias and Florentin Pogba are also professional footballers. While they have not reached the heights that Paul reached in football, they have also been able to make a career out of the round leather game. Florentin played for Saint Etienne in France and Genclerbirligi in Turkey while Mathias played for clubs in England, the Netherlands, France, and Spain.

5. Jude and Jobe Bellingham

Jude is the more famous of the two. He currently plays for Real Madrid after completing a big money transfer to the Spanish club last year from Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old English talent has a younger brother Jobe who is also a budding talent in football. He currently plays as a forward or midfielder for EFL team Sunderland. Both of them started their careers at the Birmingham City Academy and have now both represented England in international competitions. As you might have guessed, their father Mark Bellingham was a former footballer. Obviously very strong football genes in the Bellingham family. The Bellingham brothers are still very young and only time will tell the heights they will reach in the beloved game.
