New Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle, has stated his tactical preference while declaring the ambitions he hopes to achieve with the Nigeria national team.

Chelle made this known during his unveiling at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, erstwhile interim Super Eagles coach and NFF Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, and more NFF officials in attendance.

“Coaching the Super Eagles of Nigeria is an amazing job; I do not take this appointment for granted. I am elated and will do my utmost best,” the Malian native said at the ceremony.

He continued, “Football is about scoring goals, so I favour an attacking style. I know the expectations of Nigerians and I will settle down and work diligently with assistants towards the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

On his part, Alhaji Gusau said, “I see in the new Head Coach the right spirit and the right attitude, and I have faith that he will take the Super Eagles to the next level.”

Chelle’s first competitive match with the Super Eagles comes up on in a trip to Rwanda for a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on March 17, followed by a clash against Zimbabwe on home soil a week later.
