Nigeria’s representatives at the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, Enyimba, fell to a 3-0 loss to the Black Bulls of Mozambique in their third Group D match of the continental competition on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant entered the contest at Estádio do Zimpeto without a win after two matches in the group, having drawn one match and lost another of their opening two games.
Black Bulls ensured the former African champions stay winless in this season’s campaign through goals from Rume Akporoh, Fidel Helder de Sousa and Ayuba Francis Abubakar.
Akporoh opened the scoring for Black Bulls after 17 minutes before Sousa and Abubakar completed the rout with goals in the second half.
The match witnessed Enyimba bringing on Austin Onyemaechi and Chukwudi Nwaodu for the closing stages of the second half, just one hour after the duo reportedly arrived in Maputo for the encounter.
Enyimba will try to salvage their Confederation Cup campaign in the return leg against Black Bulls at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on January 5, 2025.
