Nigeria’s representative at the CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba, kicked off their group stage campaign with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Egypt’s Al Masry at the Suez Canal Stadium on Wednesday.

A goal in each half from Mahmoud Hamada secured victory for the home side and leave Enyimba joint-bottom of Group D with Black Bulls who fell by the same score against Zamalek in the other group match.

Hamada gave the home side the lead after five minutes, keeping his composure to steer the ball past Ani Ozoemena Enyimba at the end of a well-worked free-kick into the Aba Elephants’ penalty area.

The home side doubled their lead after 74 minutes through Hamada again, as he got the crucial touch that steered the ball beyond Ozoemena’s reach to seal all three points for Al Masry.
