Former Nigerian champions, Enyimba, have suffered back-to-back losses in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a 2-0 loss to Kwara United at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Stanley Eguma’s team fell to a 2-0 loss against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium last Friday and were hoping to get back on track, but the Afonja Warriors had other plans for the People’s Elephant.

Wasiu Alade put the hosts ahead with a penalty in the sixth minute before Junior Aimufu doubled the lead for United after 37 minutes of the rescheduled NPFL encounter to seal the win as Enyimba failed to post a second-half comeback.

The result leaves Enyimba with 27 points, 12 points off league leaders Remo Stars, while Kwara United is now a point behind the Aba-based team on the league table.

Next up for Enyimba is an oriental derby at home to Heartland of Owerri, while Kwara United will go on a trip to take on North Central rivals, Niger Tornadoes, in neighbouring Minna.
