Real Madrid is once again demonstrating their eye for talent by officially securing the services of 16-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, hailed as one of football’s brightest prospects.
The deal, which has been in the works for close to 600 days, was initially announced on December 15, 2022. The youngster was unveiled on Saturday, July 27, 2024 with squad number 16 by the club president Fiorentino Perez.
Endrick has chosen to wear the number 16 shirt during his first season at Real Madrid as this number holds significance for the Brazilian phenom as it’s the same one he wore during his formative years at Palmeiras.
There are great players to have worn this jersey at the Santiago Bernabéu for Los Blancos over the years including Casemiro, Mateo Kovačic and James Rodríguez.
We’ll keep an eye on the Bernabéu and watch Endrick’s journey as the future of the number 16 jersey looks like it will soon see a new name be etched into Real Madrid’s great history.
