Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has provided an injury update ahead of the Magpies Premier League clash against Liverpool in midweek.
The Geordies, who are making the trip to Merseyside to face table-toppers Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, could be bolstered by the return of Joelinton and Sven Botman to the squad, following spells on the sidelines.
Howe revealed during his recent press conference that the pair are on the brink of a comeback, though Botman is a question mark for the Anfield clash, having made strides in his recovery from a knee injury, same as Joelinton, who has been sidelined by a knee problem as well.
When asked about Botman’s chances of playing against Liverpool, Howe said: “Sven’s improving and he’s improving quickly, so we’ll see whether he makes it. It’ll be close.”
On the availability of Joelinton, Howe stated: “Again with Joe, it is similar to Sven he is really improving and doing really well and pushing. He is another player who could be quite close. Joe is always important from a number of perspectives especially in defending set-pieces.”
