Denzel Dumfries scored twice as Inter Milan saw off Atalanta in the first semi-final of the Supercoppa Italiana at the Al Awwal Park in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Following a goalless first half in Riyadh between two of Serie A’s leading teams, Inter Milan broke the deadlock through the Dutch international four minutes into the second half.
The goal prompted Gian Piero Gasperini to bring on Ademola Lookman, as well as Charles De Ketelaere and Ederson, but it would mean nothing as Inter only went on to double their advantage.
Lookman was bearing down on the Inter goal and got dispossessed as he made to shoot on target, with the Nerazzurri launching a counter-attack which ended with Dumfries scoring a fierce shot.
Inter Milan now await the winner of the second Supercoppa semi-final between AC Milan and Juventus on Friday, with the final set to take place in Riyadh on Monday.
