Nigeria’s D’Tigress were brought back to earth after succumbing 54-75 to host nation France in their second match of the women’s basketball event at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.
The French team had an exceptional shooting night, securing a convincing victory over the Nigerian side. Despite the loss, D’Tigress displayed moments of resilience and determination on the court.
Ezinne Kalu stood out for Nigeria, contributing 18 points in a commendable individual performance. Murjanatu Musa added 14 points, while Amy Okonkwo and Promise Amukamara chipped in with 6 and 5 points, respectively.
It was bound to be a tough challenge for Nigeria and the defeat places added pressure on D’Tigress as they prepare for their next match against Canada, the world’s fifth-ranked team.
Nigeria must win against the Canadians to reach the knockout stage of the Olympics. Under the guidance of Coach Rena Wakama, they will aim to rectify their mistakes and deliver a stronger performance.
