Nigerian music moguls and former Mo’Hits stars, Don Jazzy and D’banj, have officially launched their football clubs known as Supremos FC and Koko FC.

The clubs’ reveal came from Lagos Liga, Nigeria’s first private football league, with both clubs set to compete for the N50 million prize. There will also be prizes for top goal-scorer (sharpest shooter), best goalkeeper, defender, and midfielder, best supporters group (offline and online), and for super coach.

Lagos Liga, which is not open to professional footballers, is slated to kick off in December 2024, with Supremos FC and Koko FC set to compete with 10 other teams. The league aims to provide a platform for both non-professional players and seasoned veterans to showcase their skills in competitive matches.

According to Lagos Liga organisers, Don Jazzy’s involvement in the league should serve as a wake-up call for other teams: “If Jazzy’s midas touch, as expressed across several other sectors, translates to football, then other teams should be worried.”
