Djokovic Stays on Course to Meet Alcaraz in Tantalising Australian Open Quarter-final

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz remain on course to give fans a final before the final at the Australian Open after both men eased through their third round matches on Friday in Melbourne.

Seventh-seeded Djokovic put up a solid performance against Tomas Machac to reach the Australian Open fourth round with a straight-set win in Melbourne on Friday.

The record holder of Australian Open titles, Djokovic eased to a 6-1 6-4 6-4 win over his Czech opponent and gain revenge on him having been on the losing end of their last meeting in Geneva last year.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz was even more ruthless, dropping only five games on his way to a 6-0 6-1 6-4 win over Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka to reach the fourth round where he will meet Britain’s Jack Draper.

15th seeded Draper hit 29 aces and won 75% of his first serve to overcome Aleksandar Vukic of Australia 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 7-6 after three hours and one minute to reach the Australian Open fourth round for the first time in his career.
