Premier League leaders Liverpool had to dig deep to earn a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest in a tense encounter at City Ground on Tuesday night, avoiding losing home and away to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as a result.

The hosts, who had stunned Liverpool with a 1-0 victory at Anfield in September, looked set to complete a remarkable double over the league leaders while the Reds had revenge on the menu and an opportunity to further extend the gap at the summit.

In-form striker, Chris Wood, opened the scoring for Forest early in the first half, continuing his impressive form this season which has seen him register 13 league goals so far.

The second half belonged to the Reds, who went in search of the leveller. Arne Slot’s second-half substitutions proved pivotal, with Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota combining to secure the equaliser for the visitors.

Forest keeper, Matz Sels, made crucial saves to deny the visitors a second goal while resolute defending from Forest also kept the Reds at bay as the hosts hung on for a crucial point.

Despite the draw, Liverpool maintain their position at the top of the Premier League, now six points clear of Forest who sit in second place ahead of Arsenal’s match at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
