Former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, Angel Di Maria, has returned home to sign for boyhood club, Rosario Central, just under a year since he backed off from the move due to death threats made to him and his family at the time.

The 37-year-old midfielder has put pen to a Rosario return after his time at Benfica expired this summer, bringing an end to a sojourn in Europe that saw Di Maria win 30 trophies, including the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2014.

“Our history together has more pages to write. Welcome home,” the Rosario-based club said alongside a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). The 2022 World Cup winner spent two seasons with Rosario before moving to Europe with Benfica.
