77 days after trading No. 77 Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and one season after reaching the NBA finals, Dallas Mavericks are out of contention for the playoffs this year following a 120-106 loss to Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament.

Ja Morant endured a sprained right ankle but still registered 22 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and three steals for the Grizzlies, Zach Edey also added 15 points and 11 rebounds while Scotty Pippen Jr. hit 13 points in the win.

Mavericks star Anthony Davis received treatment for groin and lower back injury problems, but still led the side with 40 points and nine rebounds.

The defeat marks the end of an underwhelming campaign for the Mavericks, which also included Kyrie Irving sustaining a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury after only getting to play three quarters of basketball with new recruit, Anthony Davis.
