Barcelona are through to the last eight of the Copa Del Rey following a 5-1 demolition of Real Betis on Wednesday, making it the second straight match of scoring five goals after humbling Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia 5-2 on Sunday.
A guard of honour was given to Barcelona by Betis off the Supercopa triumph on Sunday and Hansi Flick’s men picked up from where they left off against Real Madrid by seeing off Manuel Pellegrini’s side at the Estadi Olimpic.
Gavi opened the floodgate of goals for Barca after just three minutes, taking a touch from Dani Olmo’s pass before firing past Fran Vieites in the Betis goal after only three minutes of play.
Olmo, handed the starting shirt alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha in attack after overcoming the controversy of his registration, ended up getting two assists while Yamal and Raphinha got a goal each.
Jules Kounde got a goal off a neat ball over the top to him from Yamal and had another disallowed for offside, while substitute, Ferran Torres also got on the scoresheet with a vicious half-volley in the second half.
Elsewhere, Christantus Uche grabbed an assist for the second straight game to help nine-man Getafe advance in the Cup with a 1-0 win Pontevedra, while Leganes got a 3-2 win at Almeria, and Valencia won 2-0 at Ourense.
