A top official of TP Mazembe, Lamine N’diaye, has revealed the reason Nigerian goalkeeper, Suleiman Shuaibu, was turned into a striker for the club.

It was revealed recently that Shuaibu, a second-choice goalkeeper for the former African champions, will now be playing as an outfield player.

Mazembe, who are reigning DR Congo champions, is serving a FIFA ban at the moment and were unable to sign new players as a result following the departure of Fily Traore.

“He wants to help the team during this difficult period we are going through,” N’diaye stated. “In training, he scores goals. It takes time to adapt, but he will be able to do good things.”

Shaibu came on in the 65th minute to replace John Bakata during TP Mazembe’s game against Don Bosco on Friday.
