Chelsea bolstered their squad with the signing of promising left-back Caleb Wiley from Major League Soccer side Atlanta United. The 19-year-old American international joins the Blues on a six-year deal with the option for an additional year.
Wiley impressed with Atlanta after rising through their youth academy. He made his first-team debut in 2022 and even earned senior caps for the United States national team.
The teenage defender has completed the move while in Paris preparing for the Olympic Games football event with the US squad.
And while Wiley has secured his future with Chelsea, there’s the chance he gets loaned out to French side Strasbourg – a club with ties to Chelsea’s ownership group.
This signing marks another addition to a busy transfer window for Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca. The Blues have already welcomed five new players this summer.
The players who have signed so far this summer are Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Renato Veiga. Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian is also set to join the club next year. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is also looking at Villarreal’s Filip Jørgensen as potential new goalkeeper.
