Manchester United and Chelsea have shared the spoils at the end of their Premier League clash at Old Trafford, playing out a 1-1 draw in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League debut as interim manager.

Rasmus Hojlund’s determination won the Red Devils a penalty, which captain Bruno Fernandes duly converted in the 70th minute. But Chelsea responded just four minutes later, with former United target Moises Caicedo securing the equaliser.

The result leaves United in 13th spot in the Premier League standings, six points adrift of Chelsea, who hold fourth place with 18 points – ahead of Arsenal and Aston Villa on goal difference.

Van Nistelrooy now has two matches remaining as United’s interim manager before Ruben Amorim, currently with Sporting Lisbon, steps in. Amorim is scheduled to take charge on November 11 after an agreement was reached between United and Sporting Lisbon.
