Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up three places in the latest FIFA world ranking for October, occupying the 36th spot with 1503.29 points.
A draw at Rwanda in September followed by a hard-fought 1-0 over Libya in Uyo two weeks ago have seen the Austin Eguavoen-led team make the gains on the rankings.
The Nigerian national team is also now the fourth-best team in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal and Egypt, while the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia suffered the biggest drop after going down 11 places.
Tunisia’s drop comes as a result of their winless run in the last couple of AFCON 2025 qualifying matches, leaving the North African team to rank 47th in the world.
On the global front, Argentina and France remain the top two teams of the world, with the top six nations maintaining their places from the previous ranking, with Portugal moving up to seventh at the expense of the Netherlands team that dropped to eighth. Italy and Colombia complete the top 10.
