World number three Carlos Alcaraz reached the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters for the first time, following his straight sets victory over homeboy Arthur Fils.

The 21-year-old put up a spirited performance, as he rallied from a set down to clinch a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory over the Frenchman to secure his spot in the last four.

Alcaraz will now face fellow Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who accounted for Australia’s Alexei Popyrin in straight sets, for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti overcame defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to his first-ever career Masters semi-final.

Musetti will meet Australian Alex de Minaur in the semis, after the eighth seed annihilated Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria 6-0, 6-0, in their quarter-final encounter.
