Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that defender, Antonio Rudiger, will return for the club’s UEFA Champions League second-leg play-off round clash against Manchester City at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Rudiger suffered a hamstring injury at the start of February and has been sidelined ever since. However, he was spotted training with the first team on Tuesday morning in their final session before the crunch encounter.

“Rudiger can play from the start. We are trying to prepare very well players to recover who can help us,” Ancelotti said after the training session although he did not indicate whether the German would be in the starting squad or on the bench.

“We try to have the same game as we played one week ago,” Ancelotti added. “Obviously we have to take into account every difficulty that we have in this kind of game, which is a play-off where everything is at stake in 90 minutes.”

Madrid hold a 3-2 advantage from the first-leg over the Cityzens heading into the return fixture at the Bernabeu and only needs at least a draw to secure a spot in the Round-of-16 stage.
