Brown Ideye Confirms Enyimba Exit

Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has revealed he is leaving Enyimba following the conclusion of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign which saw the People’s Elephant finish sixth with 55 points.

The 36-year-old joined the Aba club in January 2025 on a free transfer, scoring five goals in 13 appearances across all competitions, though he could not prevent the club’s ouster in the group phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Ideye took to his official social media handle, where he posted the news on X, “To the Chairman, Staff, my teammates and fans of Enyimba FC, thank you for the wonderful journey. It’s been an honour to wear the jersey and play for one of the biggest and best football club in Nigeria and Africa.”

He added, “As I move on, I’m grateful for the fond memories we created together on and off the pitch, and I appreciate the love, respect and support you all gave me from day one. This club will always have a great place in my heart. With Love and Appreciation.”

Ideye started his career at Bayelsa United, before proceeding on to the defunct Ocean Boys. His European sojourn saw him move to Swiss outfit Neuchatel Xamax, before going on to have spells at FC Sochaux of France, Dynamo Kyiv or Ukraine, West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at the time.

He also featured for Greek Super League giants Olympiacos, Chinese side TJ Teda, Málaga CF, Tianjin JMT, Aria Saloniki, Goztepe in Turkey, and Al-Yarmouk SC, and was also a member of the victorious Super Eagles squad that emerged champions of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa in 2013, playing alongside top scorer Emmanuel Emenike.
