Tyson Fury is one of boxing biggest names in recent years, winning the four major title belts – including unified between 2015 and 2016 – during a career that saw him win 34 of 37 fights, getting 24 of those victories via knock-out.
However, Fury shocked the boxing world somewhat when he announced his retirement from the sport earlier this year in mid-January, just as talk of a fight with Anthony Joshua was starting to gain momentum.
The imposing Englishman, popularly known as the Gypsy King, has come out of retirement before, but boxing promoter, Bob Arum, believes 36-year-old Fury will stay retired this time around.
“If I was a betting man I would say he will never fight again,” Arum told the 5 Live Boxing podcast with Steve Bunce. “Marvin Hagler had an expression – ‘a rich guy who goes to bed wearing silk pyjamas doesn’t get up in the morning to do road work’.”
Arum added, “Tyson, really, I don’t think wants to get up in the morning and do road work and go through the experience of having to train when economically he doesn’t have to do it any more.”
