Super Eagles sensation Tolu Arokodare is set to be the cynosure of all eyes and the subject of intense transfer interest across Europe, with German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund said to have put their sights on the Nigerian.

The Black and Yellow are the latest club to signify interest in the KRC Genk forward, following his impressive displays in the Belgian Jupiler League this season, in which he has scored 22 goals and registered seven assists for the Smurfs.

24-year-old Arokodare’s exploits earned him the prestigious Ebony Shoe Award, as he became the seventh Nigerian to claim the award, joining an elite list that includes Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Godwin Opara, Celestine Babayaro, and, most recently, Paul Onuachu, who won in 2021.

He won the prestigious award ahead of Noah Sidiki of Union St.Gilloise, Genk teammate Zakaria El Ouahdi, Union Saint-Gillloise star Promise David and fellow countryman Raphael Onyedika.

Former European champions Dortmund, under the guidance of manager Niko Kovac, are planning to bolster their strike force to complement the efforts of Serhou Guirassy, and Arokodare suits the club’s attacking profile.

Arokodare, who joined Genk from French side Amiens in January 2023 for a reported €500,000, is currently contracted to be at the club until the summer of 2027, though the Belgian outfit are reportedly open to selling the striker if a buying club puts forward the right valuation.

It remains to be seen where Arokodare will be playing next season, although he has admitted that a move to the Premier League is a dream he hopes to realise.
