Dan Ndoye is the hero as Bologna celebrate a first Coppa Italia title in 51 years after his second half goal proved enough to seal a 1-0 win over AC Milan in this year’s final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Wednesday night.

Following a goalless first half, a keenly contested final was decided in the 53rd minute when Bologna’s Swiss winger pounced on the rebound to fire in the winner from close range and cap a memorable season for the Rossoblu, having featured in the Champions League for the first time earlier in the season.

Next up for the Italian Cup holders is a trip to Firenze for the derby against Fiorentina, as both teams chase respective slots in Europe next season, while Milan will look to put behind Wednesday night’s disappointment when they face Roma at the same stadium on Sunday.

Interestingly, all four teams follow each other on the Serie A table with two games left to play, as Roma occupy sixth spot with 63 points followed by Bologna with 62 points, while Milan is eighth with 60 points and Fiorentina is ninth with 59 points.
