Blow for Wolves as Star Player Gets Banned for Misconduct

Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers, have been dealt a blow in their relegation battle as star attacker, Matheus Cunha, has been suspended for two matches after being charged with misconduct.

The misconduct charge comes after the Brazilian was involved in an altercation at the end of his team’s 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town in a recent Premier League match.

Although Rayan Ait-Nouri was sent off in the aftermath of the match, referee Simon Hooper did not spot Cunha, who was caught delivering a blow to the back of the head of an Ipswich security guard before reaching out and pulling his glasses off his face.

Cunha was subsequently charged for misconduct, though he was allowed to feature against Leicester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Now, the FA have handed him a two-match ban and fined him the sum of £80,000 after he admitted the charge.

As a result, Cunha will now miss his side’s upcoming home fixture against Nottingham Forest, as well as their trip to Bristol City in the FA Cup.

He will be available for selection when Wolves play away to Newcastle United on Wednesday, January 15th.
