Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be unavailable for the Reds in their Carabao Cup Final clash against Newcastle United this weekend due to an ankle injury.
The 26-year-old picked up the knock in the second half of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League round-of-16 second-leg clash against PSG on Tuesday, in which the French side won via penalties.
“Trent is not available. He will not be there at the Final. But he is still to be assessed for how long it will take but we do expect him back before the end of the season,” said Liverpool manager, Arne Slot.
The England international’s injury means Liverpool do not have a recognised right-back for the final at Wembley, because Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are still recovering from injuries although Jarell Quansah is likely to fill in.
