Barcelona are set to be without Robert Lewandowski for a few weeks after confirming that the striker has suffered an injury, which will force him to miss the coming El Clasico showdown against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final later in April.
Lewandowski went down holding his hamstring in the closing stages of the dramatic 4-3 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday, leading to his immediate substitution in the 78th minute of the match.
The 36-year-old has been in fine form for Barca this season, with the Polish striker scoring 40 goals in 48 games in all competitions so far, but he will now have to be on the sidelines for three weeks while recovering from an ‘injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh’.
It is also likely Lewandowski will be unavailable for the Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Inter Milan, as well as league matches against Real Mallorca and Real Valladolid. He is expected to be in contention for the return leg against Nerazzurri in the Champions League.
