We may be seeing the curtains closing on Brazil and Al Hilal star, Neymar, after Al-Hilal boss Jorge Jesus stated that the former Barcelona and PSG man hasn’t been registered for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season.
According to Jesus, who saw his side ease to a 9-0 win over Al Fateh on Thursday, Neymar can no longer play football at the level the SPL leaders are used to playing physically.
Neymar has not featured for Al Hilal since suffering an ACL injury in October 2023 during a match against Uruguay, and only made his debut a year later in October 2024 before picking up a hamstring injury soon after.
While Neymar has been ruled out of the SPL, Jesus revealed Neymar remains in contention to feature in the Asian Champions League.
“Neymar will not be registered in the team for the championship. He can participate in the Asian Champions League,” Jesus said. “The Saudi League is one of the best leagues in the world. All Al Hilal players can play for any club in Europe. When he was about to return, he got injured again.”
Jesus added, “[Neymar] is a world-class player. But the truth is that physically, Neymar can no longer play at the level we are used to. Things have become difficult for him, unfortunately.”
Neymar has featured just seven times for Al Hilal since his blockbuster move from PSG in 2023, scoring one goal and providing three assists. He has hinted that the FIFA World Cup in 2026 will be his last World Cup.
