Kylian Mbappe has finally been unveiled as a Real Madrid player, getting on the Santiago Bernabeu field to rapturous applause from 80,000 fans at his presentation following a dramatic few years of courting PSG for the France international.

He wore the number 9 shirt as he joined the club president, Florentino Perez, and legend, Zinedine Zidane, at the presentation, becoming just the latest big name to be handed the number after some really big names.

Cristiano Ronaldo (2009/2010)
For just the one season, his debut for the club, Cristiano Ronaldo donned the number as he went about proving he was worth every penny of the money Real Madrid spent in breaking the transfer record at the time to sign him.

Karim Benzema (2010/11 – 2022/23)
The former France international wore the iconic number for Los Merengues in his early days after Cristiano Ronaldo moved from it to take the number 7 vacated by Raul Gonzalez. He returned to the number in his final years at the club before moving to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

Luis Enrique (1991/92, 1995/96)
Currently managing Paris Saint Germain, Luis Enrique enjoyed two spells as Real Madrid’s number 9 before making the dreaded transfer to bitter rivals Barcelona.
