Dani Olmo’s agent, Andy Bara, has revealed that the Spain international could have joined Bayern Munich earlier in his career but chose to make a move elsewhere for footballing reasons.
Speaking amidst Barcelona’s struggle to register Olmo for the second half of the 2024-25 season, Bara, hinted that money will not be a decisive factor for the player’s final decision regarding his future.
The football agent then referenced Olmo’s transfer away from Dinamo Zagreb, which could have seen the attacker land at Germany’s biggest club rather than at a Bundesliga rival.
“When Dani was at Dinamo Zagreb, Bayern offered bigger money, marketing side was bigger too… but we gave our word to Leipzig and to Oliver Mintzlaff, they showed their project and we decided to go to Leipzig at that point,” Bara said.
He added, “Big money in case of free transfer? Of course the best deals are when players are free… But the emotions also matter. Dani plays football as he loves the game, he did massive effort to be at Barça.”
Bara also confirmed that there is no negotiation taking place between the player and any other club, as they await Barcelona to figure a way to free up funds that will allow for Olmo to get registered again with La Liga.
“I can confirm out position has not changed. We are not negotiating with any club,” Bara said. “Dani is Barça player and he wants to be a Barça player, he did big efforts in his life to be at Barcelona. It was his desire for long time.”
