Two goals in the early stages of the game saw Barcelona play out a 1-1 draw at home to Real Betis on Saturday and fail to take advantage of Real Madrid’s loss earlier in the day.

Barcelona went into the game with knowledge that they could go six points clear at the top after Real Madrid fell 2-1 to Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And Gavi gave Hansi Flick’s side the perfect start with a goal after only seven minutes, but it took only 10 minutes for Manuel Pellegrini’s team to get back on level terms thanks to Natan’s goal.

The result sees Barca go four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, while third-placed Atletico Madrid is now 10 points behind with a game in hand. Betis on their part move up to fifth with 48 points.
