Barcelona Outlast Real Madrid Despite Kylian Mbappe Hattrick in Seven-goal Thriller

A hattrick by Kylian Mbappe proved futile for Real Madrid as Barcelona came from 2-0 down to claim a thrilling 4-3 win at the Olimpico Montjuic in this season’s last El Clasico.

Barcelona were left stunned after Los Blancos zoomed to a 2-0 lead within the opening 15 minutes thanks to Mbappe as Real Madrid looked to cut the lead at the top to one point and make the La Liga title race stretch into the final week of the campaign.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s men were unable to hold on to the lead, with Eric Garcia pulling one back for Barça after 19 minutes before Lamine Yamal levelled scores at the half-hour mark of the game.

Three minutes later and Barcelona were in front thanks to Raphinha, who went on to extend the advantage with his brace on the stroke of half-time as Real Madrid struggled to stay in the game.

It took until the 70th minute before the match witnessed another goal, as Mbappe completed his hattrick to give Real Madrid a lifeline in the title decider.

However, Barcelona, despite seeing a Fermin Lopez goal cancelled out after review in stoppage time, held on to claim a precious win and go seven points clear on top of La Liga with three games left to play.
