Barcelona Get Update on Dani Olmo’s Registration Status for La Liga

La Liga leaders, Barcelona, can heave a sigh of relief as the Spanish government’s sports council (CSD) will allow Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to remain registered for league matches until the end of this season.

Both players were set to become ineligible for the remainder of Barca’s title charge after the CSD initially found that the club did not meet up with financial requirement to enable their registration for league matches, albeit temporarily.

Barcelona announced a deal to sell VIP boxes at their Camp Nou stadium on January 3 in the region of €100 million to enable the duo’s registration for the second half of La Liga.

However, LaLiga claimed recently that the deal was not reflected in the accounts Barcelona submitted to the league for the 2024-25 season and that the agreement had been approved by a different, unnamed auditor.

Yet in a twist to the plot, CSD has now ruled that the commission seeking to block the players’ registrations does not have the authority to do so – allowing them to remain eligible to play in the Spanish top-flight for now.
