Barcelona Expected to Make Changes in Copa del Rey Clash Against Valencia

Hansi Flick has hinted about making changes to his Barcelona line-up when they face Valencia in a Copa del Rey quarter-final clash at the Mestella on Thursday night.

The Catalan giants recently thrashed their relegation-threatened opposition 7-1 in a La Liga fixture, but Flick insists that the result will have no bearing on the cup tie.

“It will be a totally different game to the one in La Liga, for sure, also because of the atmosphere of playing away,” the Barcelona manager said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Flick added, “I also remember the first game against Valencia at the beginning of the season. It was very difficult and the atmosphere was amazing. The same will happen tomorrow. It’s a difficult game because we can win or lose a title.”

The German tactician also revealed that he and his staff will “think about rotations” due to a demanding schedule, as they take into consideration a crucial trip away to Sevilla on Sunday in La Liga.

Barca could make at least four changes in the Copa del Rey tie against Valencia, with Eric Garcia coming in for Ronald Araujo at center-back.

Other changes expected include Frenkie de Jong starting in place of Marc Casado, Fermin Lopez coming in for Gavi, who suffered a concussion last time out, and Ferran Torres is leading the Barcelona attack.
