Marc Casado and Inigo Martinez have both been ruled out of Spain’s UEFA Nations League quarter-final fixtures against the Netherlands, after sustaining injuries in Barcelona’s La Liga match Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
Casado hurt his right knee in the second half of Barcelona’s 4-2 win away at Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday, with national team coach Luis de la Fuente replacing him with Bayer Leverkusen’s Aleix García.
Martínez on the other hand, also has a right knee problem, though the defender finished the match against Atletico Madrid. He has been replaced by Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, who is a member of Spain’s U-21 squad.
Spain, who are the reigning UEFA Nations League holders, will travel to take on the Netherlands in the quarter-final first-leg on Thursday before hosting the reverse fixture three days later.
