Four goals in the closing 18 minutes plus stoppage time has seen Barcelona come from 2-0 down to claim a crucial 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid in a pulsating La Liga match at the Metropolitano on Sunday night.

Barcelona dominated the first half, with Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski coming close to giving the visitors the lead, only for Julian Alvarez to put Atletico Madrid ahead on the stroke of half-time at the end of a sublime combination involving Antoine Griezmann and Giuliano Simeone.

Alexander Sorloth doubled Atletico’s lead not long after coming on for Alvarez, firing over Wojciech Szczesny from fellow substitute Connor Gallagher’s pass as the capital club looked set to go above Barça into spot second on the La Liga standings.

But Hansi Flick’s men had other ideas, with Lewandowski sparking a comeback with a goal just two minutes after Sorloth scored, while Yamal scored the winner either side of Ferran Torres’ brace to seal a crucial win for Barcelona in the title race.

The result sends Barcelona back to the top of La Liga with 60 points, ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference and four points clear of Atletico.
