Team Nigeria got dealt with a big blow as world record holder and 2022 world champion Tobi Amusan failed to reach the women’s 100m hurdles final, after finishing third in the first semi-final on Friday in 12.55 seconds.
Amusan placed joint third with Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska who also ran 12.55 seconds. However, the time was not enough for both women to book a spot in the final race.
27-year-old Amusan’s time saw her place ninth overall at the end of the three semi-final races, with Cyrena Samba-Maylela of France picking the last qualifying spot after finishing fourth in the last semi-final with a time of 12.52 seconds.
