Alexander Sorloth hit a brace on the night as La Liga leaders, Atletico Madrid, continue their winning run in all competitions by easing to a 4-0 win over Elche to book a spot in the Copa Del Rey quarter-final on Wednesday.
Sorloth opened the scoring for Atleti after eight minutes as he struck a loose ball from close range to find the back of the net in what is Atletico’s earliest goal in the Copa del Rey this season.
The Norwegian was on hand to double the advantage just after the half-hour mark with a penalty after Samuel Lino was brought down in the Elche area by Bambo Diaby.
Rodrigo Riquelme made it 3-0 just after the hour-mark with a long-range effort while substitute, Julian Alvarez, completed the rout to send Elche packing from the competition.
The win takes Atleti to a club-record 15 consecutive wins in all competitions.
