Ademola Lookman is the subject of another gaffe by Atalanta as the Nigerian forward was mistakenly substituted in the second half of the Serie A clash with Lazio which ended 1-0 in favour of the Rome-based outfit on Sunday.

Lookman was taken off in the 75th minute for Lazar Samardzic alongside strike partner, Mateo Retegui, despite Atalanta trailing by Gustav Isaksen’s goal scored 10 minutes into the second half at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

“Lookman’s substitution? Ederson should have come out, we made a mistake,” Gasperini clarified after the defeat which leaves Atalanta in third place on the table, just two points clear of Bologna, who have a game in hand, and three points clear of sixth-placed Lazio.

Next up for Atalanta is a match against Bologna on Sunday as the fight for European places in Serie A heats up with seven games left to play this season.
