Chido Obi-Martin is on the brink of completing a move from Arsenal to Premier League rivals Manchester United after the expiration of his contract with the Gunners in June.
The highly-rated youngster confirmed he will be leaving the Gunners in a post on social media although failed to mention where he is headed after leaving the Emirates Stadium.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Obi-Martin, a prolific 2007-born striker, has agreed to a long-term contract with the Red Devils. In unconfirmed reports, the teenager has been offered double the weekly wage Arsenal put on the table during negotiations.
Meanwhile in a report by Daily Mail, it is also believed that Obi-Martin wanted to go from the U-16s straight to playing for Arsenal U-21 team rather than move to the U-18 side.
Playing for the U-21 side would have afforded the striker a better chance of training with the senior first team and possibly making appearances during the season.
Obi-Martin scored 29 goals in just 17 league matches for Arsenal’s Under-18s last season. The 16-year-old made headlines earlier this year after scoring 10 goals in a single game for Arsenal’s U-16 side against Liverpool.
