Italian midfielder Jorginho is reportedly set to join Brazilian outfit, Flamengo, on a free transfer from Arsenal, after agreeing terms on a summer move.
The 33-year-old’s contract with the Gunners expires in June, allowing him to negotiate with foreign clubs and according to BolaVIP, Jorginho has now agreed personal terms with the Brazilian side.
Flamengo had initially tried to sign him in January, but were unwilling to pay a transfer fee. The club’s manager, Filipe Luis, is said to have played a key role in convincing Jorginho to make the move.
Jorginho’s move to Brazil would mark the first time the Euro 2020 champion would be playing professionally in his country of birth.
While his contract expires at the end of June, it is presumed Arsenal could allow him to leave the club when a short transfer window opens between June 1 and 10 exclusively for teams taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup.
