Alessia Russo has been named the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Player of the Season for the 2024-25 campaign, beating last year’s winner Khadija Shaw of Manchester City to the accolade.
The 26-year-old forward has scored 12 goals in the Women’s Super League this season, and also found the back of the net eight times and provided two assists in Arsenal’s run to the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final, where they will face holders Barcelona in Lisbon on May 24.
Russo’s Arsenal team-mate Mariona Caldentey came third in the vote while Chelsea defender Millie Bright placed fourth. She becomes the second Arsenal player to win the prize.
