A Dominic Solanke own goal and Leandro Trossard’s strike just before half-time has given Arsenal a dramatic 2-1 win in the north London derby at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
Son Heung-min put Spurs ahead after 25 minutes, but Gabriel’s header came off Dominic Solanke to get Arsenal back on level terms before Trossard found himself in space to get in shape and strike the winner a minute before half-time.
At half-time, Ange Postecoglu took off two central midfielders – Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma – for attack-minded Brennan Johnson and James Maddison as Spurs aimed to press high. But Arsenal managed to keep the visitors at bay to get a crucial win.
The result sends Arsenal back to second place with 43 points, above Nottingham Forest and now four points behind Liverpool although the Reds still have a game in hand against Merseyside rivals, Everton.
